At HAVEN, our work is delivered through specialised teams, each bringing a high level of expertise to a specific area of safety and recovery. We ensure that every individual and whānau from all walks of life receives the exact type of support they need through a coordinated, professional approach.

Our crisis line is a tool for support and coordination, but emergency services are the fastest way to ensure physical protection in a life-threatening moment.
STAR Team (Sexual Trauma Abuse and Recovery)
Provides a safe and confidential space for people who have experienced recent or historical sexual harm. Support is provided at your pace in a non-judgemental environment.
Referrals: Self-referrals and agency referrals accepted, subject to suitability.
Family Harm Specialists Community Team
Provides short-term and long-term support to help individuals and whanau increase safety and wellbeing. Assistance includes safety planning, emergency safe house accommodation, WINZ support, Protection Orders, Courts, Lawyers, Police, and other community services.
Referrals: Self-referrals and agency referrals accepted, subject to suitability.
Tamariki & Whānau Specialist
This specialist provides one-on-one support to tamariki to help process trauma and become active participants in their own recovery.
Referrals: Strictly for children already supported by other HAVEN teams
Tamariki Education
Delivers group programmes that help tamariki understand healthy relationships, emotions, personal safety, and positive ways to manage feelings.
Referrals: Available through external referrals for tamariki in the community, subject to suitability.
Adult Education
Delivers programmes that help adults understand the cycle of violence, build healthy relationships, strengthen wellbeing, and develop skills for positive change. Options include group programmes, individual sessions, and tailored support to meet individual needs.
Referrals: Open to external community referrals, subject to suitability.
Integrated Safety Response (ISR)
Works closely with Police to provide immediate safety planning and crisis response for those experiencing family violence. This team helps coordinate support quickly when there are high safety concerns.
Referrals: Access is through Police referral only.
